A Theoretical Model for Investigating the Structural Dynamics of a Rolling Tyre

Abstract The noise generated by the rolling tyre contributes significantly to cars interior noise. This is caused tyre-road contact, and at low frequencies (0-500 Hz) mostly transmitted inside cockpit through structure-borne transmission path. In support of studies in this research field, an interpretative model tyre-wheel system accounting for effects induced angular speed represents a useful tool. To aim, we implemented analytical based on flexible ring elastic foundation analyse dynamics system, both static rotating configurations. We fine-tuned parameters data coming from Experimental Modal Analysis tyre. Particular attention has been paid system's free forced responses, commonly analysed with so-called cleat test. results are discussed interpreting behaviour different reference systems.
